Chien-hui (Sherry) Tang is an of counsel at Innovatus Law. Her practice focuses on litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution.

Sherry Tang formerly served as a judge in the Civil Division of the Taiwan High Court. She was a graduate of the 47th term of the Judicial Officers Training Institute and has 18 years of judicial experience. In February 2025, she resigned from her judgeship at the Taiwan High Court and started her private practice. Sherry Tang was selected as one of the first seven judges of the Commercial Court under the Intellectual Property and Commercial Court system, exclusively handling major commercial cases involving disputes over NT$100 million, listed companies, Securities and Exchange Act matters, and other commercial cases significantly impacting the stock market and investor interests. Cases which she adjudicated included the disputes over corporate control of TeCO Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd., Tang Eng Iron Works, and the contested shareholder meeting of Evergreen International.

Beyond major commercial disputes, Sherry Tang also presided over numerous cases involving public construction projects and intellectual property disputes during her tenure as a judge. She previously handled cases involving significant public infrastructure such as the National Freeway projects, new construction contracted by the Ministry of National Defense’s Political Warfare Bureau, pump station renovation projects tendered by the Taipei City Government’s Public Works Department, retaining wall construction for Taipower’s Linkou Training Center, the Dapeng Bay Road Project, the main structure construction for the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying), design-build projects such as Trade Village II in Hsinchu City, and reconstruction and seismic reinforcement of buildings at Xinzhuang Elementary School. She is well-versed in disputes between owners and subcontractors concerning price adjustments and extensions of construction periods, various engineering technical appraisal practices, and holds a certification as a specialty judge in civil engineering matters.

In the field of intellectual property, she has presided over numerous cases involving patent, copyright, and trademark infringement damages, administrative litigation on patent invalidation, criminal litigation for copyright infringement, and evidence preservation / preliminary injunction proceedings between high-tech companies. She also holds a certification as a specialist judge in civil disputes of intellectual property rights. In the area of labor disputes, she handled dismissal disputes between major corporate employers such as Johnson & Johnson, Micron Taiwan, Qun Yi, DuPont Taiwan, and Chun Nan Bus Company and their respective employees, as well as disputes involving differences in pension payments between Taipower and its retired employees. Moreover, Sherry Tang has also adjudicated significant criminal cases involving national security laws, the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, and other serious offenses; consumer class actions; high-value labor disputes; and contract disputes over electricity rate calculations between Taipower and Ho-Ping Power Company.

Sherry Tang began her career as a judge at the Taipei District Court and served in the Summary, Criminal, and Civil Divisions. She was later seconded to the Ministry of Justice’s Judges Academy as a mentor and later the chief mentor in the Civil Division, a testament to her in-depth practical experience and theoretical knowledge in law . Sherry Tang is also trained in  accounting, as  she is expected to receive her Master’s degree in Accounting from National Taiwan University in 2025.

Sherry Tang’s extensive academic and practical experience enables her to formulate comprehensive litigation strategies, provide feasible and professional legal advice, and secure favorable rulings and negotiation outcomes for clients in all major commercial, construction, and intellectual property disputes.

She is currently a member of the Taipei Bar Association. She is fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English, and has passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N2.

  • A preliminary injunction case regarding the attendance dispute of top-vote Director Duanmu Zheng at the 2022 annual shareholders’ meeting of Chung Shining Textile Co., Ltd.

  • Insider trading damages litigation filed by the Securities and Futures Investors Protection Center against Director Wu Tian-Yu of ASE regarding ASE’s acquisition of SPIL.
  • Payment dispute litigation between the Political Warfare Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense and Kun-Fu Construction Co., Ltd. over the “Lequn New Village Construction Project” in Taipei; contract performance litigation between contractors Nandi Co., Ltd. and Cheng Long Engineering Co., Ltd. for Phase 3 of the “Shen-Ou Base Construction Project” tendered by the Armaments Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense.
  • Contract performance litigation between Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation and United Fiber Optic Communication Co., Ltd. over the “Replacement Project of Transmission Terminal Equipment for Tamsui, Xindian, Nangang, Banqiao, and Tucheng Lines.”
  • Payment dispute litigation between Ruifeng Elementary School in Bade District, Taoyuan City and Nianjian Construction Co., Ltd. regarding the seismic reinforcement project for East and North buildings.
